We just used them on a trip to SFO, not a single problem or overcharge. Simply decline all of that BS insurance and fill the car up with gas when you return it!

Hertz story...Was in Ft Lauderdale a few weeks ago and they wanted to charge me an “extra day” because I was there picking a car up 35 minutes earlier than I said I would...our plane was early, so I thought I would get a jump on the traffic...NOT.....everything had been prepaid, wasted time arguing about it...car was sitting there...ridiculous...won’t be using them again. And no didn’t pay for the extra day!

Enterprise is the only company I use. Always been well taken care of by them. I like how they bring you out to the lot and let you choose your car. Can't blame a company for trying to up-sell you. All you have to do is say no.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

It is called “slamming”.
In the old days, the agent would “slam” the customer by telling them to sign here and here without telling them what it was for and even sign their own initials.
Enterprise self insures so any damage comes out of their pocket and any difference in premiums collected vs paid out stays in their pocket.
Their employees are monitored on their insurance sales. Higher sales of insurance and extras and upgrades result in better reviews and hence quicker promotions. Women were twice as likely to have better stats than men and it was indeed used as a negotiation tool. Of course, back then you only had one choice of insurance but now it seems like they give you 3 different things and to decide on. Enterprise was taken to task for this practice and the insurance sales were eventually de-emphasized but I’d be surprised if it still isn’t part of their employee review.
The insurance is great if you need it. I have many stories of people just turning over the keys after some damage and walking away. But again, we his was back in the 90s.
I have 10 yrs of immersion in the Enterprise culture through my ex wife. They work you like dogs but if you curry favor with management and are good at what you do, you can move quickly up the ladder and the money was pretty good.

Before you rent another car call your vehicle insurance company and ask if rentals are provided coverage. If you have full coverage on your car you should have coverage on your rental.
I usually ask for unlimited mileage and "no drop charge" which means I can leave the car at any Enterprise location in the country.
Get a membership with Enterprise (which is the one I recommend) and after a few rentals you can get free rentals for your personal use!

Sounds like this was on the location. Glad to hear better experiences. Yeah, I get the need to upsell, but at the level they were, it just felt like they were nickel and diming me. I travel a lot, rentals frequently and this was the first time with them. BTW... the "accidental" overcharges have not been reversed as of this morning. Just read reviews from this location and they are not good. Live and learn.

Rent from Enterprise all the time including international. Never a problem. I book through their reservation system. They all take a deposit hold on your credit card.
Couple of years ago a big tree limb fell on my rental car for personal use. My auto insurance took care of everything and Visa covered my deductible. Just had to make sure all the paperwork was complete.
Business rentals are covered by my company insurance.

I work for Enterprise, but we don’t rent cars.
