Is it still required by law to have a paddle in your boat? Several years ago, I thought this was required, but cant find anything on TPW site.

The Handbook of Texas Boating Laws and Responsibilities does not have it listed.

https://www.boat-ed.com/texas/handbook/page/53/Texas-Required-Equipment-Checklist/

You may want to give the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department a call just to make sure. I always have one on board in case I need it and I have used it several times.

Ever hear the expression "up a creek without a paddle?"
Do it once you'll never do it again!

I bought an extendible paddle with a hook on the end. Never used it as a paddle but used it plenty of times to get lures out of trees....

I have been stopped for a " safety Check " several times, They want to see life jackets , throwable cushion or ring , fire extinguisher ,
registration card , and fishing license ( if you are fishing ). and want hear the horn or whistle, . I can not remember ever being asked to
show a paddle. ( ever try to paddle a 22 ft center console ? ) Flares are not required in fresh water , but if you have them , they cannot be
outdated ( I have been told )

good luck

They also make great snake killers

call it what you will...he is not definitely not anywhere near the top of the list for QB's that I would choose needing a FG or touchdown drive late in the game.

Have kept one in Boats for 45 years. Only needed it a couple of times in Bass Boats but was sure glad I had it. Law or no.
