I love to trophy fish as much as the next guy but with spring right around the corner I can’t help but look forward to warmer weather and family fishing trips. Fishing with a toddler can be super challenging at times. My son is a wild ace and getting him going on this catfishing thing has been a ton of work and 2 tons of patience. He reeled in his first fish 2 summers ago and things started to really pay off last spring when he started cranking em in every trip. Last night I asked him if he wanted to go fishing this Sunday since the weather is supposed to be warm. He said he wanted to go but only if I let him throw the net! Lmao!!! My eyes lit up excitement and I couldn’t help but drift off into the 4th world envisioning our future fishing trips and seeing my son chunking that deep net. I know it will be a long time before he can handle the heavy net but I’m gonna get him a little net and start training him up ASAP.

A lot of guys probably don’t care much for my kiddie fishing posts and all the little dinks we catch but It’s been a great experience for our family. I’m going to try and post our adventures along the way in hopes that it might encourage someone to step outside their comfort zone and take a kid fishing. You’ll be glad you did I guarantee. See y’all at the lake! We’ll be the boat with the 4 yr old throwing pancakes with his cast net and pulling in loads of shad! Lol

This is a fun age and lots of memories to be made. I son gets mad every time I go fishing without him. Winter fishing is hard work and I don't want to put my 5 year old through the miserable conditions and slower fishing. I usually take him along when I know the fish are going to be fast and furious. Which is why I don't seem to have any time to fish on the weekends anymore. Now I have to try to make time in the week...........I am going to try to go tomorrow while he is at day care.

Thanks amigos! I bought a marine beanbag last summer and I bring it with me whenever he is on the boat Matt. He likes to crash out on it on slow days, after completing 100 laps around the boat of course. I dont take him if the weather is bad or it’s too cold. He’s only been 1 time this winter and we didn’t catch a single fish but he said he still had fun.

I need one of those bean bags. I need a nap every now and then too.

Yeah I bought 2bean bags at Walmart a couple years ago that are made for the pool and they float. They are good in the summer when he gets bored we go swimming.
