I fish Chambers / Belton / Buchanan

2/8/20 Richland Chambers
4 guests estimated 150 fish total

This morning I had regulars Tray, Richard, Tray’s cousin Daryl, and friend Ed from California.

We left about 7:45 and came back around 8 to get Ed’s license😂.
Smack talking ensued!

We headed to my best producing area. We hopped around a few different depths with action at all of them, but not very active fish ..... slow bite. (30-45)

Our fourth stop (53’)was our best. Regular keeper hybrids, good amounts of 17” hybrids and plenty of whites, and while they were legal, they weren’t big enough to clean. I don’t kill fish under 12” so most were released.

Once this area slowed we made a couple short hops in close to the same depth no more than 75 yards at a time. Most fish caught late morning were short hybrids.

Just before we were about to leave a loon swam up to the boat and just stared at us. We proceeded to feed our new friend a few dozen shad before we realized he wasn’t gonna leave. Time had expired and we headed in.
Slow sticking and easing tactics this morning (estimated 75 fish)

Fish were cleaned and I sat waiting for what I expected to see. Everyone else bowed out except Richard, he wanted more.
A little after 4pm the birds started and we weren’t far away.

The two of us started crushing fish after fish. Most of these fish were magnum sized white bass and short hybrids. Birds worked for almost 2 hrs sporadically but in the same area. We didn’t have to chase the birds as the fish were everywhere.
These fish were caught around bird activity 24-32’
We easily caught more fish this afternoon in half time as we caught this morning.
Slow smoking tactic was best this evening.

95% of our fish were caught with Zman Streakz with all different colors.

A few fish were caught ripping jigging slabs through schools of hybrids

Shad caught a few blues.

Fish pictures are from the morning trip. None taken on the afternoon as the action was to fast to take a break!
