I’m told they come from some low to the ground plant that resembles goat head plants and also has small yellow flowers. I guess conditions have to be just right for it to germinate but when it does, it explodes. Trying to see if the pre-emergent we have is going to work on them but don't know the correct name of this plant. They are a royal pain when you have 3 to 4 dogs going in and out of the house.

If those are those little baby-pea-size sorta-soft burrs like we've got all over the place it's amazing how attractive the Maltese and Yorkie are to them. Those d*mn things will jump 25-30 feet to stick in that long hair.
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

And my cocker spaniel, Vaquita.
Oddly enough they don't bother Huyana at all. You can't make them stick in her fur.

Thanks Kattelyn! That is exactly what they are!! We don't have yorkies, cockers or maltese, but border collies and australian shepherds and cross of those 2 breeds attract them similar to what DCmac is reporting.
Now that we know what they are, I sure hope this pre-emergent Hi-Yield Turf and Ornamental Weed & Grass Stopper containing Dimension (R in a circle) I posted about last week is going to keep it from coming up.
I have 72 lbs off the stuff so I hope it works. Burr medic / burr clover is not listed as one of the things it controls so I guess we'll find out. If anyone knows that answer, or what will for sure work, please let me know. Thanks!!

Pre emergent in the fall will help with these as well, so I am told. I had these real bad last spring and was told I need to pre emergent in both fall and late winter...We will see if it works…..

Well got that done so we'll see if it helps. Sheep will eat clover in the ground. Too bad cats won't eat it. And it appears to be resistant to cat poop. Next door neighbor feeds about 8-12 cats that like to come spray on our front porch and front hedges, and [censored] in our yard. Pre emergent in the fall will help with these as well, so I am told. I had these real bad last spring and was told I need to pre emergent in both fall and late winter...We will see if it works….. Well we got our late winter done now and will get on a schedule to include fall. The dogs got a bunch cleaned up from the back (into the house) but there must be about 200,000 of those little burs in the front. It will be not too long till it's time to mow the weeds and the grass will get cut also at the same time. Thanks everyone!
