Curious about the old bridge right off of 315 on Palestine. Could you take a boat out to it and fish from the bridge? I'm looking for a place to camp and fish for Carp for a few days. If anyone has any other suggestions they'd be greatly appreciated!

If you look at Google Earth the last flight was 4/2019 and you can clearly see a couple of boats next to it and a canopy set up on the bridge. If you roll the date back on the images to 2011 during the last major drought you could drive out to the old bridge and it will give you an idea of the lake bottom topography.

FYI there are acutally 2 bridges if one gets full you can use the other one depending on lake level I have seen it crowded before it is about to be crappie time and it will be crowded

From the public ramp @ 315 is it a difficult idle up into Kickapoo Creek?

depends on water level but right now you should be ok if the lake dropps to 4 low or lower then it can start to hinder the navigation but it actually has decent water depth in the creek channels

There are actually three old bridges there that you can fish from there. The middle bridge is probably the one you would prefer to fish from as it is higher out of the water and you could set up chairs. The other two are partially under water (6 inches] and you can paddle across them. Last weekend when I was leaving at dark, I watched a guy paddle his little 10 foot kayak out and give rope to three of his buddies on the bank. When one made it to bridge, the ones on shore pulled his kayak back to shore and the next guy paddled out.... repeat.. until all four were able to get out on bridge. Don't know about the carp or cat fishing there but the bass are there.

Back in the day, my dad and I used to go to that bridge and fish for crappie. It’s the first place I ever saw people burn tires for both heat and light. Some of the locals would bring 3-4 tires out if they were fishing all night. Ahhhhh, the good old days.
