We've used worms for a long time for catfish. After learning mackerel is good from an amigo , we gave it a try. (note: I recall mackerel in houston is counted as a game fish, so it may not be allowed to fish it for bait. Instead, the imported ones are super cheap in grocery stores:)

I'm glad you liked it. After posting this on our local forum, I've also learned a long list of things to try this year: shrimp, mackerel head, with garlic and strawberry jellos. Will share again if any of them works even better
