I'm taking a combat veteran fishing tomorrow. I've not been to either lake in several months but am really familiar with both lakes. Any suggestions on which would be my best option? Just going for a fun trip, not going to hire a guide.

Anywhere but Rayburn. Rayburn will have a 500+ team high school tournament tomorrow. You want no part of that!

I'll be stunned if there are not multiple tournaments on Fayette tomorrow. On a boats per acre basis, it may be worse than Rayburn. You might be able to call Oak Thicket and ask about the tournaments. If you want some piece and quiet, you may consider Basstrop even though you'll probably be stuck with smaller fish. I really wish the state would change the rules to limit the number of tournaments on our lakes.

Tomorrow likely to look like a major holiday weekend IMO at most lakes within 200 miles of Houston. Deer hunters mostly finished.

Iā€™m with Josh, Iā€™d put in up north at Hanks creek or Shirley creek and go fishing. Majority of the boats will be down south.

I've never been afraid of fishing Fayette when there are other boats. I've been fishing that lake for just shy of 40 years and can always scare up a few fish

I am going to rayburn in the morning, not worried about a few high schoolers.

glad I headed to Fayette as the weather wasn't even close to forecasted. It was supposed to be 70 degrees and partly sunny and it ended up being 50 degrees and overcast...like a front had just come in. Combine that with the fact my trolling motor quit on me (ended up being a loose battery in the Xi5 remote), we were forced to just drift and cast. We got their around 7:30 and fished until 10:30. Caught one at about 4 1/2lbs on a crankbait in 7ft of water. Only saw one other person put a fish in the boat all morning. That being said, always good to wet a line and have a decent lunch at Orsags in Fayetteville.

I agree with that weather, overcast and 50 here all morning yesterday. I had 2 bites, 1 good keeper.

Seasons over so I hope they are finished! Haha

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

I would choose Fayette if the I10 wasn't a disaster right now. O almost went that way Friday but decided to prefish Dickingson for an upcoming tourney. Glad I did because I tore em up.
