Do you filet your catfish or gut and skin?

Do you knock them out first or clean them while they are alive?

Skin with skinning pliers and then take off the filets with the tip of a Forschner Rabbit Knife

This video made my day! So simple, I have been fighting the skinning process and it leaves too much silver on the filet. I tried this yesterday and we had some great fillets tonight for dinner. Thanks!

I only figured out a couple of months ago whacking them on the head makes cleaning waaaay easier . So simple when they don’t move .

If you put them on ice at the lake you don't ever worry about having to "knock 'em in the head" when you get home. wink

Electric Filet knife and similar to the above video except stop before you cut all the way through the tail.

Flip filet over and take the meat off the skin.

I went through several of the videos on Youtube and some of them are working way too hard! hammer

I have never seen anyone cut the fins off before, during, or after skinning a cat. hmmm

For those times you get a little aggressive and cut through the skin at the tail, use an old kitchen fork to hold the skin and then fillet the meat off.
