In cold weather I’ll wear my traditional vest because it’s warmer. Otherwise just my inflatable. Improperly fitted/tightened traditional vests can come off in a crash. Moral of the story, whatever you wear do it properly and keep up with maintenance. BUT WEAR IT!!

I also use a traditional vest when its not too hot. But I just bought a Mustang Elite 28 for when it is. Especially with the new boating law on vests in Texas and not wanting to keep taking it on and off. FYI the gray one is $220, no tax, no shipping at sustangsurvival.com.

I'm looking at the Bass pro shops am 33. It's on sale . What your thought on that one.

Love the concept and space saving but they are just not for me. I’ve got 3 of the bass pro A/M models hanging in my shop. Have gone off numerous times inside the compartments at home due to either heat or moisture. Then got thrown out once at high speed and one went off the other didn’t. After spending couple hundred bucks recharging them over a couple years, then a failure I just bought all new conventional mustang jackets. Maybe the high end $250+ ones are better but I’m not taking that risk. Thought about just giving these away but I wouldn’t give them to anyone except maybe a enemy.

All Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) must be U.S. Coast Guard approved, in serviceable condition, readily accessible, and of the appropriate size for intended user. See Life Jackets for more details on PFD types.
All children under 13 years of age in or on vessels under 26 feet in length must wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved wearable PFD while underway. Underway means not at anchor, made fast to the shore, or aground.
All vessels, including canoes and kayaks, must be equipped with one Type I, II, III or V wearable PFD for each person on board. A Type V PFD is acceptable only if used in accordance with the specific instructions on the label of the device.
Vessels 16 feet and longer, excluding canoes and kayaks, are required to be equipped with one Type IV throwable PFD in addition to the Type I, II, III, or V PFD required for each person on board.
Inflatable PFDs are authorized only when used in accordance with requirements as presented on U.S. Coast Guard approval labels. Inflatable PFDs are not approved for use on personal watercraft, waterskiing, or other high speed activity.

You are correct. I stated it poorly. I meant with the new boating law I have been taking my life vest on and off (easier with no D rings than unhooking) and with the new vest I think it will be much easier to take off or just unhook the kill switch. My old vest didnt have D rings.
