I've been keeping a close eye on the water down here in Houston. Fish that have been offshore with lock jaw for a few weeks finally started moving up yesterday. I caught some fat pre-spwan females in less than 3 feet of water on a NW winded shoreline yesterday. Hooked a real big fish but lost it. Today will be the third warm day in a row with a few warm nights as well. I expect to smack them again tonight before this front blows in and pushes them back out.
Any spawn updates from your area? Keep them rolling in if you have them.
Tight lines to all this spring! The big fish bonanza should be just around the corner!

With no real winter I think alot of fish never left shallow water. Out here in Austin, we've been catching our biggest fish in the dirt. Literally 1-3ft, well past the end of drains or closest deep water

I was at a stock pond yesterday in E. Texas. Caught 11 (slowish day), but all were in 1-3 FOW and all on plastics. They would not chase anything.

Thank you for the update. I think north Texas is a behind. Saturday on Lewisville was brutally slow; No fish shallow but plenty of fish and bait in 35 f.o.w.

Are you night fishing? .... Or did I read that wrong?

We saw 3 schools of fry with two of them guarded by males on 1/26. Saw no beds anywhere on the lake. 61-67 water temps.
Went out on a different lake on 1/30 and caught males shallow on spinnerbaits. 54 all over the lake.

Are you night fishing? .... Or did I read that wrong? No, I'll just fish for a couple of hours before dark.
