Fishing Lake Palestine soon and I've never been on it.

What kind of hazards should I be aware of and where I can and can not run on pad?

Thanks for your help.

I've fished it once with a guide. There are stumps in MANY areas that are right under the water. I don't think I would ever fish there in my own boat without very nice map

Lots of hazards visible and non visible. Do yourself a favor and contact Tom Mayne to get a Lake Palestine guide lane chip! There is a thread on the next page!

Google Tom Mayne Guide Service and buy the map chip off of his website. Follow his lanes and you will be fine. There are way to many hazards on that lake to name them all on here. Even with the chip there are huge areas of the lake you simply have to idle to get to. The dam area is about the only area that is pretty much hazard free.

Get the boat lanes from a guide or make sure you have good insurance. Lots of hazards above and below. If not you can put in by the dam and fish that area with out a lot of problems. The rest of the lake is stumpy. Also don’t cut the corners going into coves and creek arms. Points are long, shallow and loaded with stumps.
Great Lake have fun.

Here is a thread from a few years ago with a general guideline. Use caution even in the areas marked, because there is timber all over some of those areas on either side of the 'run'.

Link (Google Find; But I Remembered the Thread)

Tom’s boat lane chip is worth every dollar. Purchase one and run the majority of the lake with confidence. I’ve been using it for 2 years with no issues.
