Thanks to everyone who submitted. Here's the results from 366 survey responses. The numbers changed very little from this same survey here in 2017, with most responses having only a 1-3% differential from the previous survey.

Overall the results are as expected, the Bass Section is comprised mostly of competitive bass anglers who are boat owners and fish regularly. For simplicity I'm just going to list the top 3-5 rankings for each question.

1. Average days fished:

1-5 days 47%
6-10 days 34%
11-15 days 11%
16+ days 5%

2. Compete in Bass Tournaments:

Yes 75%
No 22%

3. Type of Tournaments:

Local 69%
Bass Club 48%
Big Bass 38%
Regional 28%

4. Tournament Format:

Team 83%
Individual 63%

5. State

Texas 92%

6. Traveled Out of State For Tournament

Yes 41%

7. Age Range:

45-54 29%
55-64 23%
35-44 18%

8. Income range:

$100,000+ 60%

9. Boat Owners:

Yes 87%

10. Boat Brand: *Skeeter number larger in Texas. For our surveys we've done outside of Texas Skeeter falls to #4 and Ranger is the leader nationally.

Skeeter 24%
(Other) 20%
Ranger 19%
Bass Cat 10%
Triton 9%
Nitro 5%

11. Motor: *Yamaha number larger in Texas as well because of Skeeter's performance here. In the national results Mercury widens the gap another 10+%

Mercury 49%
Yamaha 36%

12. Trolling Motor: *Same nationally

Minn Kota 76%
MotorGuide 19%

13. Shallow Water Anchor: *Same nationally

None 59%
Power Pole 28%
Talon 11%

14. Electronics: *Nationally Humminbird number up 8%+

Lowrance 47%
Humminbird 38%
Garmin 10%

15. Tow Vehicle

Yes 97%

16. Tow Vehicle Brand: *Nationally Chevy is #1 but by only 3%

Ford 36%
Chevy 26%
Dodge 12%
Toyota 12%
GMC8%

17. Favorite Rod Brands:

Falcon 18%
Dobyns 16%
G Loomis 7%

18. Favorite Reel Brands:

Shimano 33%
Lews 26%
Abu 15%

19. Favorite Bait Brand:

Zoom 33%
Strike King 22%
6th Sense 7%

20. Social:

Facebook 70%
YouTube 51%
Instagram 35%

21. Fishing Related Websites Visited:

BASS 75%
Wired2Fish 62%
FLW 54%
MLF 52% *This number up dramatically but MLF's website in 2017 had virtually no traffic.

22. Attended BASS, FLW or MLF event:

Yes 60%

23. Fishing Related TV Shows Watched:

MLF 48%
BASS 31%
None 15%
Zona 12%
Honey Hole 9%
FLW 8%

*This is interesting in that BOTH MLF and BASS experienced increases from the 2017 Survey (Pre Bass Pro Tour). MLF up 6% from 2017 and BASS up 19%. Also, interesting that 15% don't watch at all.

24. Purchase Intent:

18% plan to make a major purchase of a tow vehicle or boat in 2020

25. Purchase Intent Follow Up:

41% plan to purchase new tow vehicle
29% plan to purchase new boat

26. Top Outdoor Retailers:

Academy 71%
Bass Pro/Cabela's 69%
Tackle Warehouse 51%

27. Shop Online:

Yes 90%

28. Top Online Retailer:

Tackle Warehouse 53%

29: Hunt:

Yes 53%

30: Saltwater:

Yes 36%

GoPro Hero 8 winner, Toby Schroeder. Congrats!

Great info. I think we would see some different results if this same survey is performed on mostly high school and college kids. For example I think the favorite rod and reel categories would be much different.

Entirely possible in that only 1 person under 21 completed the survey.
