I have dome some of that myself. One thing you want to consider though is if that stem gets cut it will ruin it. What I saw one day after I got to using some of the UV Glue and watching some of Loon's videos I saw one that I liked a lot. I can't find their video any longer as they have too many, but I can show you my jig and explain how it's done. First they tie in a tail and also tie in your Hackle to be Palmered and a piece of Chartreuse Lateral Scale Flash that is wrapped around the hook shank and thread base and tied off. Before you wrap the Hackle forward you put a coat of UV Glue all over the Lateral Scale Flash body, then wrap your Hackle forward and tie off. The stem of the Hackle is embedded into the glue so it will not come apart. Skip I found two I did like that.
