If I’m wacky rigging, I’m using a Jackall flick shake worm on a weighted wacky hook. I’m too impatient to go weightless. Drag like a shakey or t rig. Works great in the dead heat of summer. Med/light rod, 12 lb flouro.

When I do fish a Senko or a trick worm wacky style I use the Falcon lure wacky hook with the weed guard. They have weighted and weightless. I use a o ring for Senko’s and I just sack hook the trick worms. Both I throw on a 7’ bait casting rod with 15lb fluorocarbon. Due to the lack of grass and all of the snags present on the north end of Rayburn I normally Texas rig .

there is a huge difference between a true wacky worm and a wacky rigged senko.

casting setup, o-rings off amazon and common sense hooksets. Since I fish heavy vegetation I started making my own weedless hooks per this video posted awhile back by James DIY Add a Weedguard to Your Wacky Hooks

Baitcasting 15# P-Line 1/0 straight shank hook with a tad of solder wire wrapped beneath the eyelet. zoom trick worm. don't be shy to try the ugliest colors out there at times. no weed guard fish it in heavy cover, always watch your line and set the hook like a senko great advice! I use the finacky type weighted hooks. Senko's idea is easier and cheaper. use 12# flouro to a 20# white braid on a spinning setup. I can see my line easier this way (old age is creeping up)

there is a huge difference between a true wacky worm and a wacky rigged senko. Truth. I rig both very differently. There is not a wrong way to rig or fish a wacky worm. There are multiple ways to rig it. Some are much better around brush than others.

I fish wacky about 50% of the time. I use a baitcaster, circle or octopus hooks, weightless, 50 lb braid with 20 lb fluorocarbon leader and any color senko (as long as they are green). The circle and octopus hooks only need a "to the side sweeping motion" but that could be because there is no stretch with the braid. I also use o-rings and it saves the worm on a lot of the fish. The o-ring lets the worm slide up the line undamaged most of the time.

This is a presentation that I’m gonna utilize more this year. I always use a 1/32 weight because in any wind, I don’t feel the bait stays in the strike zone long enough. Almost weightless wacky!

Fin”aky” Mustad hooks. Get the 1/32 weighted ones. Getting hard to find. These are magic hooks.

I use standard equipment for my wacky rigging. Normally a 7'6" rod or longer and a 12 lb test McCoys Mean Green. I do things a little differently than ost. I pout a leader on mine, from 12 to 24 inches and put a swivel on it. A BIG swivel, 1 or 2 ought. That keeps the line from twisting and it gives it enough weight to swim down. Of course, I may be the ONLY one doing something like that, but it works for me. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
ThadRains You are not alone. I all but quite fishing big Senkos for awhile due to line twist. On a whim added a swivel w/ leader...issue solved. As you mentioned with a big enough swivel it acts like a Carolina rig with a wacky worm action.
Grateful for every sunrise and sunset I get to witness. - Jason

I never go fishing unless I have one spinning rod set- up and one baitcaster set -up for weightless wacky rigging . 10Lb , 1/0 on the spinning , 12lb 1/0 for a baitcaster . = 5" any green Senko In the wintertime , I look for rock piles in the 30-40 foot range , with either ledges close , or flat's close --- throw that weightless wacky --- takes about 30-40 seconds to reach bottom , but for some reason finicky bass just want it that way ---If I tie up dshot wacky senko in the same area -- I don't get nearly as many bites .
