I suppose it's possible, but very unlikely. More likely that some kind of operator negligence was involved.
Have difficulty with the notion that a Glock will fire without SOMEONE squeezing the trigger.

I mean it could be...anything is possible.
I have owned Glocks since I was 18 and never once had one jam, misfire, or do anything other than operate as intended. I have never even heard of a Glock going off on its own or from a drop.
Now, as they have "passive safety's" I have heard of "Glock Leg"...guys carrying them in their belt line, grabbing for it and accidentally pulling the trigger as they draw it. That I have heard of. But not a gun going off when dropped. Seems very unlikely.

Folks always give me a hard time when I say that I don't carry with one in the chamber, but stuff like this is why. We all have choices to make and I understand carrying with one in the chamber, but I'd never be able to live with myself if this happened to one of my angels.

I wonder if the guy dropped it and tried to pick it up by the trigger and BAM. Now he doesn't want to admit fault or they just want to sue somebody.
I pocket carry my Shield with one in the chamber but it's in a kydex holster that blocks the trigger AND unlike the Glock, it has a safety switch.

Very very sad. I'm sure the parents are just looking for a way to blame something else, but hard to get past negligence. Feel very sorry for that family.

Very Sad But a factory original Glock is undoubtidly the most safety tested gun in the world. They are probably the only gun that has past safety standards of virtually every country that has a modern army. I will bet that it will be discovered that either the trigger was pulled or it had a modified after market trigger.

I tend to agree. I mean look, stranger things have happened but I find it very hard to believe the gun hit the floor and fired. Bet they cannot recreate that event.

Just goes to show you any gun will fire when dropped in a way that will jar the firing pin and that includes Glocks ! Rossi has a recall on .357 revolvers because some idiot dropped one and it fired . Feel sorry for the young one that died but how stupid can you be to play that kind of activity and keep your CCW on yourself ! STUPID !!

I was reading and it seems there have been a lot of times when a guy simply tried to pull his pants up and pulled the trigger (Plaxico Burress???). People do dumb things. My only hope is anybody that sees this and you carry in your pocket (or maybe even your waistband, console, glove box, bag or purse), that you will take some form of precaution and/or leave the chamber empty, regardless of the brand or external safety switch. It's just not worth the risk imo.

Understand how a Glock works and you'd probably change your statement. As for revolvers, older ones without a transfer bar safety can discharged if dropped.

I don't think so , everyone trust Glocks because that is what police carry and they have managed to keep a good reputation because they keep their returns and problems away from the public . Glock is not the perfect gun , there is not a manufacture in the world that has not had their share of problems with a bad gun . If you talk with any gun manufacture they might and might not tell you all the problems they do have .

I could not even imagine the pain. I'm not a fan of any striker pin actions or spring loaded actions are normally in a cocked tension position. Hammer and decocker SA/DA for me only. Agree too with the comment of wrestling play with a child when you have a piece holstered.
