Rob and I set out about 9am and decided to go straight to the bluffs. Started scanning in about 45fow and only took about 5 minutes to start catching. THe first 5 were big fat females full of eggs. Then the little ones moved in but the ratio of keepers to little ones was better than last time. We stayed in this general area steadily catching fish until about noon. Decided to try North of Katy bridge. Could not find any concentrations between steele and katy so headed back to the bluffs. Caught fish there until about 3:30. The last stop was in 50fow. First time we have been able to catch sandies this deep. Some were suspended some on bottom. 173 on the clicker, all released.

We experienced pretty much the same result sunday. We fished between 9 and 3 oclock. Started at the bluffs and worked the whites over until the boys wanted to make a move. We went up north of the bridge and scanned the cedar creek area and then back down the edge of the river channel and found a good school there. I got out over the flat and threw out the drift sock and turned on the thumper. Got them all stirred up. That school had some legal striper mixed in. Caught all whites on reflective slabs and the striper came on pink swim baits.

Great to see the kids catching fish. Good job.
Seems like pink is a good color in the winter. Wish we had tried it.

I tried Whitney Sunday but I didn't have the success catching them that you guys did . What are the " Bluffs " When I see that term I assume it means underwater peaks but when I look at Navionics I can't be certain what you guys a referencing . Thanks .

The bluffs we refer to are large white rock cliffs that follow along the river channel in several.pkaces on whitney. If you look in the background of some of the pics you can see them.

what kind of baits were you using. We have been fishing a little lake close to us using blade baits but yesterday was tough only 13 fish. We have been thinking of trying Whitney.

We fished that exact same area. Focus on the hard bend in the river channel, using 1 oz slabs with a teaser jig about 2 foot above it. They seem to perfer anything thing at has chartreuse on it but caught fish in a variety of color combinations from white to pink and just plain chrome.
