I am going to install my fish finder this weekend. I was told I need to put a fuse on the wire before it connects to the battery. what is the appropriate fuse I need to use?

and what is the best gauge wire to use?

Check the owners manual for fuse size. If it is a new unit, all the wiring and fuse should be included.

For most fish finders 12 gauge wire will be plenty unless you are running over 20 feet of wire. If so you might step up to 10 gauge but that's overkill. The fuse size will depend on your unit. Check with your manufacture on what size fuse.

You get out of it what you put into it!

Humminbird's do not come with a fuse/holder.
