Former Philadelphia 76ers superstar Allen Iverson has reportedly had an estimated half a million dollars of jewelry belonging to him stolen from a Philadelphia hotel.

The incident occurred on Monday morning at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the Sofitel Hotel in downtown Philadelphia, according to ABC News’ Philadelphia station WPVI.


Sources confirmed to WPVI that the suspect removed an estimated $500,000 worth of jewelry from a backpack belonging to Iverson before making his escape.

Yeah ... I'm having trouble working up sympathy for this guy. Who in their right mind travels with that much jewelry, and leaves it laying around in a hotel room? Last time I checked, most hotels have safes.

I stayed at the Beverly Hills Sofitel several times many years ago when my company was working on a joint venture with Cedars-Sinai Hospital (where the Hollywood stars go to die). Nice digs. When you checked out they gave you a warm, fresh loaf of French bread, so if that is still the practice at least he got that.
