I’m looking for real experiences from people who have used different colored polarized lenses.
I usually stick with just getting black polarized glasses but have been looking at Oakley’s Shallow water polarized lenses.
Is there really that big of a difference of what you can see through the different colored lenses?

I fish offshore mostly and can tell you there's a HUGE difference between the cheap polarized glasses you see at Academy and a pair of Costas or Maui Jims. I have the blue glass lenses and the difference between them and my old sunglasses is like the difference between a traditional TV and a 4K flat screen high definition. Not sure about Oakley but I know Costa has a guide on their page describing the difference in colors.

Oh yeah I definitely agree with you about the difference between cheap glasses and quality glasses.

I use costa and like the blue or gray for all applications. The green really hurts my eyes. It pulls in more light. There is a big difference between blue and green.

I have been fly fishing for 15 years and no doubt Smith Action Optics are the cream of the crop. Way better that Costa iand Oakley in my opinion. For all all around performance, I prefer a copper lens.

I wanted Costas for so long but they were always too expensive for me. When I finally got my first pair, I didn't like them. They felt too heavy on my nose and the clarity was not what I had expected. My wife likes wearing them now.

Colors make a HUGE difference. Gray is best for bright sunshine. The amber is better as it gets more overcast. At dusk, the green is exceptional.

As stated several times above, a good quality lense key. For me, just as important as the lense is getting something light and comfortable that you can wear all day. My favorite is the Maui Jim Lighthouse. It is very lightweight, but it has plastic lenses that are prone to scratches if you drop them.

Appreciate the responses guys but I’m looking for opinions on lense colors not manufacturers.
I know Oakley isn’t the best out there but I get a huge discount through them so that’s what I’m sticking with.

I use gray lenses in open water if very sunny. Otherwise I use Smith glasses in amber, which are perfect for trout streams for sight casting and seeing rocks and logs on the bottom.

I usually loose a couple of pair of sunglasses a year. That's why I go cheap!

If you get a really good deal, get 2 or 3 colors. I have found that no one color is good for everything. I keep 3 pair in the car and 2 pair in golf cart. Mixture of Costas and Ocean Waves.

Costa lens technology. I'm a big fan of Green Mirror. Good lenses make a huge difference. I constantly see fish and other things in the water that people miss or can't see with other lenses.

You can use the Costa lens tech page to compare and read about what the lens colors can do from a performance standpoint. Will Oakley or other manufacturers do the same? Probably not exactly but the intent is there. Amber has a purpose, blue/green has an application etc...

As stated before if you get a big discount and want mulitples pick a lens color for all around everyday wear and then some specific colors for other purposes.

If you're wanting true clarity, I'd go with coastas 580g glass lenses. I personally like the green, but thats because I fish lakes and rivers almost exclusively. It cuts sun glare and really does help see below the surface, especially when fishing relatively clear water.
