OK probably a few more than that but the other two dramatic post made me say that...Anyway I was the only trailer in the Johnson Branch parking lot Saturday with good reason. I needed to run the boat a little but as we all know Roberts is tough when the water is cold. Water was 47-50 and marked a LOT of huge bait balls and schools of fish in the 30-40' range down in the IDB area. I mostly ran the boat but fished a little from 2'-40' deep and got two bites and caught one of them, a small keeper, in about 6 ft close to deep water. He wa so cold he bit and then gave up, might as well have reeled in a stick. So the report in a nutshell...the day was hard to beat as long as you stayed out of the wind, the water is cold, fishing was slow for me.
On another note, being the only trailer in a parking lot is not good, you are the only available target for a rascal! Got my trailer tag taken! guess it could have fallen off but not likely and I think it was there when I parked. Oh well, going to get new ones in the morning.

We were out marking water Saturday afternoon. That south wind was just enough to keep us at bay. Launched at PC, saw lots of birds hitting the water and marked a bunch of fish, probably sandies. Caught a couple small ones.

You would be surprised how many trailer tags are at the bottom of the boat ramps. Those plastic brackets break off all the time. I was sick this weekend or you would have seen me on the water. We tore them up all last winter out there.
I hate photobucket.

Did run a couple guys over to Wolf Island on Sunday that had to ditch their kayaks on Saturday and call park rangers after they got caught out there when the front blew in...-

It was pretty tough fishing on Sunday, just 3 little fish. There was plenty of bait present along with sandbass.

I got one Saturday at Pool fishing for about an hour. Fought like a spring fish so at first thought I must have a 3lber and get it to the boat and it's 1.5lbs. grrr. Today fished for a long time and got blanked. Saw and had one big bass 4-5 on, but got off. Rest of the day nada.
If there's some magic trick, let me know. Also hard to fish your normal lake when it's 2 feet low. Everything's different.

Before the lake flooded it was pretty easy fishing for numbers and quality. Since the lake has come up quality is still there just not a lot of bites. Lots of 5 pound fish with an occasional 8 thrown in. Been a fun 2020 so far.

I had the same experience while fishing Ray Bob for 9 hours Sunday except for the lost plate. All the fish I graphed were deep. I spent a lot of time fishing shallow and deep all the way to the back of Wolf Creek. I threw everything in the boat at them....Zip.
I saw lots of wildlife but no fish. I parked my boat as close to the bank in Wolf Creek as I could get and was casting out to the trees. Suddenly there was a loud grunt behind me that dang near made me soil myself. I turned around to find a huge wild pig. After exchanging oinks for awhile, he sauntered off into the woods. I saw a fat raccoon and lots of deer. Pretty cool.
Anyway, it was a good day for boating after the sun came out.
I'll be back for more punishment next week weather permitting.
