Does anyone know the rule on using these new apps like fishlyfe when fishing tournaments? And does anyone use them? Not sure how I feel about them

Depends on whether or not the tournament has a "no info" rule. Most don't.

Knowing where someone else caught fish doesn't necessarily mean that you will. I'm sure that the spots that get shared probably get hammered by a lot of anglers, so I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Don’t think you can use any phone info in any tournaments.

I think you’re right. I think it falls into the “social media” class and it’s regulated use , before and during a tourney.

Anyone getting a DQ for using Navionics during a tournament? Its the same thing, people post and share spots on it.

I don't use those sharing apps or advocate their use, but it sure would be hard to enforce a ban on apps. What about a weather app? Or a solunar table app? What would be considered 'phone info'?

Navionics on my phone shows peoples honey holes.....FROM 2014!!! I think that information is safely beyond any 2 week to 30 days limit. Haha.

Here is my take. If you are paying for info on a private forum that can be reasonable assumed to be provided about a lake during off limits, or during the tournament, that is where you have a problem. So, use whatever you want until off-limits, then discontinue until after the tournament. It ultimately comes down to the polygraph and protests. Don't risk it, because it is decidedly not a public forum, and you are paying for information that can be updated by those who are/were on the lake during off-limits.
