Please don’t buy with mueller. Their prices are ridiculously high. I erect metal structure for a living and can tell you first hand. I have 2 shops. One 40x30 with 20’ gable extension and a 40’x14’ lean to. The other is a 24x30.
Both 12x12 doors, roll backs. Way better doors!
If you need any pricing on a building or labor let me know. I know I’m located in east Texas area, but will help you out any way I can.
My take also, is go weld up. Engineered buildings are costly and softer material compared to a weld up. I specialize in weld up buildings and they withstand 120+mph winds. We do engineered buildings also “bolt ups” but I try to convince my customers to do weld up.
30x40 is definitely big enough. I put my fx21 in one bay and have a golf simulator and green in the other. But I would agree with others, if you can afford or have space for bigger, 40x50 is perfect for man cave, tools, boat.

Statton Keith Statton, I am in Weatherford and we are DEFINITELY going to need a shop built. But I have a ton of questions and concerns. We are likely looking at mid-summer for this depending on the sale of 2 rental properties that we still own. Do you do work in Weatherford, and if so can I contact you when we get closer to this event?

Agree 100% with Statton. Call Sweetwater Steel in Sweetwater for a quote. They’ll deliver to Weatherford and are WAY cheaper than Mueller. Better service and design as well on a weld up building, which I agree is the way to go. Good luck!

I can get you in contact with some guys that can for sure though and treat you right. When you are ready to build holler at me, I don’t mind answering any questions and helping you at all. Some small tricks you can do that makes your building look way better and more cost efficient also.

Also, if my guys want to travel to do a building .... I’m sure we could work something out. I love that area and so does the wife. Might give me an opportunity to look around for future plans.

What do you guys recommend for a concrete floor epoxy or something else? Just built a 15 by 30 garage and I feel like I need to seal the concrete with something.

If you want that glossy shine then a high gloss epoxy. If you want to just seal it then get a good penetrating concrete sealer. Both does wonders to the floor but epoxy is high. I eventually will either paint then epoxy mine or stain and seal. It’s really all in preference

The last couple houses we built we scored(tile looking cuts) and stained the slab. Acid based stain is permanently etched into concrete. I then sealed with an acrylic floor sealer. This can absolutely be done as a do-it-yourself project. Not too expensive and everything you need is sold at concrete supply stores. While the stain is completely permanent as it’s IN the concrete after you apply it, the sealer required a little maintenance. Some simply apply wax over the stain occasionally with a floor buffer. For a very heavy duty finish put clear epoxy over the stain but epoxy gets a little pricey.

I recommend installing a floor drain where you are going to have the back of the boat parked. There is always water draining out of the boat/motor from ice being left in the cooler or from the boat drying out after fishing in the rain

I recommend installing a floor drain where you are going to have the back of the boat parked. On the huge barndominium I just built(see pics on page 1 ^^^^^^) I did put in a “floor drain” and sloped the concrete around it. Only difference is it’s has a cap on it because I tied it into my septic system so I could dump my RV tanks. Mine is 30'deep x 35' wide stand alone, stick and brick 1/2 bath, 100 AMP panel, HVAC, Finished walls etc. I built it in 2011 so costs are not the same now, but it was about $55k back then. I park a 21' bass boat. It has 1 - 16' door and a 9' pull through.

For your Best Buy call Center Steel building supply. They can sell you a great building and hook you up with a contractor also if needed. I’d be sure to have two roll up doors on opposite sides from each other so you can pull through instead of backing in.
