Any of you fellas using shrimp for your jug baits? I do sometimes. It lasts longer on the hook than cut blue herring, but not as long as cut shad. I try and use baits more likely to last until a catfish bites.

I use shrimp when I go jug fishing. I run the hook through the middle almost the whole length of the shrimp and they stay on well. It is hard for a fish to get the shrimp off without taking the hook.

If you are using shrimp be sure it is from the Gulf of Mexico and you can prove it. Frozen shrimp usually comes from overseas and is illegal in Texas. See the link below. TP&W Rules for Shrimp used as Bait
