I'm thinking about getting a 12" livescope unit. I'm not sure which yet. How does Garmins DI and SI compare to Mega+? Also if I get a dedicated battery for the unit what is the smallest battery I could use for approximately 8 hrs of usel? Should I use a deep cycle or daul purpose ?

I recommend a dual purpose for all your electronics. They reserve the necessary amp hours needed for long days on the water, and repeated charging with a faster recovery. As far as the image that you get, it will always depend upon the unit and transducer you utilize.
