Howdy,

Looking to start bassing on Lake Conroe, I know the dangers on this lake, but I live here so I may as well use it. Im running a smaller vessel so I'd like to stick to the smaller sections of the lake, specifically up to the north side around stubble field, Little Lake Creek Cove, and the Southern most cove on the east side of the lake. Any information on baits, time of year to fish, and what to and what not to do on this lake would be much appreciated, thanks!

I will be glad to help you with some mapping. Tell me 2 or 3 numbers off this map that will help you in your small boat and I will send screen shots and write-up of the areas.

2. Live Branch skates just off shore in front of these coves. These coves run East and will warm fast for the spawn next Spring. The retaining walls will be deep and provide the structure for the Top Water Bite. The first cove marked has a bridge in the back. This means excellent top water structure on any rocks that are there. The second cove is absent of boat houses until you get to the back, then there are 6 sets of boat stalls cut out into the shoreline providing small points to hold top water fish and spawning fish in the Spring. The entire shore line of this cove should be fished with a Spook and Yellow Magic. Deep water at around 20 ft. bends into the mouth of both of these coves which will deliver the fish. The contour out on the front or mouth of both coves is irregular. The mouth of both provides great funnel points for Big Bass to hold on until they are ready to feed or finished feeding.

15. In the back of Little Lake Creek is 1097 Bridge. This is top water, buzz bait and chatterbait heaven. There is an underwater bridge in front of the Hwy. Bridge. Work the points of all the islands. Adventure up the Creek as far as you can go. It is full of hardwoods on the shore as well as great lay down to throw a Trig lizard. I like the dark Pumpin-Seed Lizard that Chomper’s makes then I take a Green Magic Marker and color the top of the back dark Green. Let them dry then dose the whole package with the Night Crawler Extract.

I think it's about 3' low, maybe a little more. I haven't looked at what SJRA says it is but I was looking last week and I'm
skeptical because they were showing around 2'

USGS has it at -1.89 USGS

To the OP, depending on how small of boat you are in, Cagle is a good place to launch. Scott's Ridge gets to rough with boat traffic with any size of boat.

I can tell you if USGS says 1.89 low, they might be off a bit. I was up there today and every water line on the bulkheads is closer to 3' low. I launched at April Plaza, go look at the water line on the ramp.

I stayed down south and caught a couple. It was rough, but good to get out.

where my parents lake house is we measured it right at 2' low next to there dock. so 1.89 would be right. I was already catching crappie in 3-4 foot of water on jigs.

The levels posted on the SJRA website are accurate; they are monitored electronically and checked/confirmed daily with manual gauges.

Yeap, hard to make it to Little Lake. Most of the spots on the map are pretty common areas, nothing special about them besides lots of others fishing them, especially 2 & 15..
