My wife and I are planning on moving this year to a property that will have space to build a shop for storage. I'm trying to get a really broad idea of how much a shop would cost to build. My boat is 25 feet long from tongue to prop but I am thinking a 30x40 shop would be optimum but I'm pretty uneducated on building them. Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Go to Mueller Buildings/Metals website. You can build anything you want through their web tool, and get you a quote. They might be higher then some, but it will get you in the ball park. I'm sure they can give you a round about estimate for concrete and labor to put up too. That would probably be the fastest way to get a pretty good idea of what you're going to spend.

Build a shop as big as you can afford . A 12ā€™x 30ā€™ is big enough for your boat . I have a 21ā€™ x 30ā€™ and it filled up quick . Thinking about a 16ā€™ add on soon .

Built a 34 Ɨ24 with concrete and everything site built was 19,000. Good luck. Like said build as big as you can. I would have gone bigger but poa limited size in my neighborhood.

Have a 30x50 and it's not enough. Have 2 boats and a tractor in it.

What most have said, build it bigger than you think you will need. I went with a shop and a carport due to space limitation. the carport is is perfect for protecting the boat, and the shop is right there for everything else.

16x40 here, insulated with a Mitsubishi split level AC/Heat system.....perfect for my 20ā€™ Champion and all my tackle with room to spare for a few other things and still room to operate in there

Also have lots of carport space for mowers, tractors and such

I built a 30x30 with a 26x20 carport cover attached to the front. Two 10ā€™ wide 8ā€™ tall roll up doors. I love it. Not insulated but thinking about doing it..

Mine is 24' by 42' and I didn't put in a concrete floor. Big mistake. It's just long enough for me to get the boat and pickup in and keep them hooked up. 3 more feet would have been better.

I'm going 48 x 60 and right now am at about 55k. That's dirt work, cement, and building erected.

As many said above, you can't have one too big. Build as big as you can afford. If you're going to have a boat in it, I'd insulate it (either spray foam or the flat sheets that go between the metal and the beams).

One thing to consider is if you can get by with lean to's instead of fully enclosed. For example, if you want to have somewhere to put your tractor, you really don't have to incur the expense of building a shot large enough for it...just build a lean to on the side and it's MUCH less expensive.

I strongly suggest garage doors instead of roll up doors. The roll up doors do not seal tight, therefore you end up with dust, leaves, etc inside over time. A garage door seals good, plus if you wanna be lazy, you can install a remote garage door opener.
