There are some college teams staying here at Alpine Marina and some are running some really nice rigs. My questions is, does the colleges supply them with boats or do they have to have their own boats ? Just wondering? Thanks....

There are some college teams staying here at Alpine Marina and some are running some really nice rigs. My questions is, does the colleges supply them with boats or do they have to have their own boats ? Just wondering? Thanks.... When I briefly fished in college I did so at a college that didn't previously have a team before I started it. We didn't have anything from the school. I quickly found out there were more teams like that than I figured. On the flip-side of that though, there are also many teams that have at least one boat provided by the college. If you don't make the top two teams for the school you can still fish but you have to provide your own boat. I had a shiny new boat in college but I paid for it. Most others I talked to either had their own boats or were using a parent's/uncle's/friend's, etc. Every college-provided boat I knew of had a wrap so they were easy to distinguish. While practicing at Texoma I saw a brand new FX21LE get beached on a boulder down by Eisenhower and cause some serious damage to the hull of his dad's brand new boat.

I fished for Dallas Baptist. At the time, there was a deal with legend and the school had 2 Alpha 199s. The deal went sour a little, especially when legend closed. That’s a long story. Anyways. Currently no deal. Some of my buddies have their own boats. Some borrow. One of the DBU teams is borrowing my red and black Bullet. I only gave them a 200 on the back tho. Hehe.

East Texas Baptist University has 4 Skeeters for their team. They are wrapped so they are easy to recognize.

Lots of borrowed parent's boats, some wealthy or hard working kids that can swing their own boat payments, and a very small number of school-owned boats (they're almost always wrapped in school colors). There are a few schools offering scholarships as part of their athletic program; these are usually relatively small, private or religion-based schools that don't offer all the major sports, particularly football. Probably some major colleges doing partial scholarships but I'm not aware of full-rides from your more familiar D1 schools. Real difficult to keep track of who is offering what, I'm not aware of anyone who publicly keeps track of this information.

My question is due teams win cash in these tournaments? If so, how does this work being a UIL student where as other sports athletes cannot win money?
