When I was in jr. college there was a place the sold a soybean burger that was god awful bad. After 45 years they should have greatly improved on.

Years ago the DQ in Taylor started using those soy steak fingers, were terrible. Those didn't go over well and they quit using them after a while.

Obviously, fake meat is cheaper than real beef.

I have eaten meat my entire life. Recently I did try the "Impossible burger" at Burger King. I was completely surprised and actually enjoyed it.

I haven't eaten at Burger King in probably 20 years. Could it be possibly their burgers are so bad that a fake meat whopper tastes just like a beef whopper?

I don't really understand the concept of eating "fake meat"-either you eat meat or you don't !! I would think someone who prides themselves in not eating actual meat-could/would actually just say they prefer soybean samm-wiches, dog turds, etc, etc or whatever it is they enjoy eating! ...whats the world coming to...."wanna be' meat eaters??

We eat a good deal of "fake meat". Mostly from Gardien. They have tons of great options and although its not the same as meat, its pretty damn close!
I have to say it is NOT cheaper than real meat. Maybe it will be at some point but for now, now way, it costs more.
The Fiance she does not eat beef at all for religious reasons, she is almost a vegetarian... so we eat lots of fish, "fake meat", and occasional turkey or chicken. Better for the planet and for your health. I will still have a steak now and again but have cut way way down on red meat in the last few years.

And your blood pressure and cholesterol levels probably thanks you. Americans eat way too much meat for what's healthy. We honestly don't need anywhere near the amount of calories than we take in and that's why we're overweight as a nation.

My California daughter and I went to a burger joint over the holidays. She ordered an impossible burger and I ordered a regular burger. We both cut a small piece and tried the other. This is where the fake meat is exposed. An impossible burger on its own is not horrible, but eaten in direct contrast to a real burger, it is a vile thing. She even agreed, but to her, it is more of a lifestyle thing. I’ll keep eating the real thing, just in moderation.

I have had one of the "impossible" burgers. It was not bad, but seemed dry compared to real hamburger. May not do that again.
