We headed out of McCown about 1:00 with the intent to mark some fish and see what this "Thumping" is all about. IM SOLD! We marked some fish just off the river channel near the bluffs, anchored off and kicked on the thumper. Within 5 minutes my old GEN 1 HDS was lit up. I couldn't believe it. We tied on the slabs and went to town on the whites. over the next 2 hours we pulled fish after fish after fish up until I was tired. We didn't keep a count and released all fish, I'd say the number was well over a hundred though. I decided then to make a move to see if we could locate some striper and we started at the mouth of Kedron creek and worked our way back up toward the big point that just out into the lake catching whites all along the way. It was the best day on Whitney I've ever had for total numbers of fish but not a one striper got boated. I lost a good fish on a swim bait that I never saw but it was stripping drag and he broke me off. I have to say the thumper is a game changer for me and I can wait to get out and try it again!

That's my youngest. Hes eats, sleeps, and poops fishing. You have to be careful taking him cause he'll out fish ya if you arn't on your game. He got some new gear for Christmas and he was able to get it good and broke in.

Nice work Chad!!!!!!! cheers

those thumpers are the [censored]. stripers have been very erratic since the end of November but the sandies have been everywhere along with small 8-10" stripers. Once ya think you got em figured out they vanish, its been day to day. Lately I have apparently been picking the wrong days to go roflmao

Awesome!!! Consider slow drifting and thumping if stationary doesn’t work on certain days. I stationary fished last winter with moderate success but now drift and thump and it’s wayyyy easier. Almost no need to even locate the fish if you’re in a good area! They come to you and have a snowball effect on the numbers growing as you drift!

Stellar post. The stripes have been tuff to find on most lakes that we fish. The sand bass cleaned from PK have no eggs , this was as of last week @ 1-13-20.

I tried that the last hr or so we were on the water, and your right. I marked across a number of fish on a point that lead out onto a flat. I got up wind of the fish and threw out the drift sock. I started over deeper water and had fish in the boat within minutes and as we drifted the numbers on the graph kept growing. I cannot wait to get back out there.

Great report. Young one will always remember these 100+ fish days. Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations! Thumping makes fishing easier, especially for the kids! They like to catch (and most don’t like having to tap the boat!)
