Went crappie fishing with another TFF member today. It was slow to dead. I caught one crappie and a shad .
He caught nothing.

We scanned the lake and tried different depths.

I need down and side imaging. I have a helix 5 sonar-gps and it would show brush piles and fish. we would throw the buoy out and then there would be nothing.
My other problem is staying in place. I had to constantly stay on the trolling motor to stay near the buoy.
If I had to retie we would be way off the buoy in a short time.

but, I at least caught one and had fun anway

It bees that way some times capt and you are not alone. That`s the part of the program that will inspire you to upgrade.I can`t speak for anyone else but It did for me at least. I grew tired of fighting a troll mtr while tryna do something else.

There are always going to be not so good days. Bad days make the GOOD days seem a whole lot better!

I cant afford to upgrade to spot lock right now. I have other monetary commitments. so, I am stuck with fighting the trolling motor (unless I can tie to a tree or bridge pillar)

But I do need a better graph with side imaging
I can sell the two I have now and sell a guitar to get one.

with the wife being laid off and other things I cant spend a ton of money just to catch a fish.

I could just catfish from the bank and fish for crappie from the bank during certain times of the year

But, I have 1 4 inch frozen shad now for catfishing

Well, I did catch 1 anchor to be fair 😂

No spot lock here. It sucks but can be done with enough practice. Getting in a protected area also helps. I keep jigs up front so I can stay on the TM while re tying.

We fished under the south end of the Hwy 154 bridge at Fork a couple of weeks ago and there were tons of crappie stacked up on the pillars. You could probably float a line around the pillar and tie up if the wind isn't too bad. I have a Livescope on my boat and could see LOTS of fish stacked up. They were finicky but we caught about 15 nice fish. Quite a few boats under the bridge and everybody was catching fish.

I fished yesterday and about got blown off the lake by 300pm. I guess I’m a fair weather fisherman now.
