My Interstate deep cycle lead acid batteries just died (RIP). Thinking about replacing with the much lighter and longer lasting lithiums. Have a 24v MK Ulterra. Anyone here have lithiums in their bass boat? Would like to know more about them. Can they simply be dropped in and hooked up the same as other types? What amp hour rating works well? What kind of charger is required? I know they are expensive, but if they last 2 or 3 times longer and less than half the weight, might be worth the money.
Oh, and should I get (2) 12 volts or (1) 24 volt?

Just make sure u buy extra trolling battery or keep some lead acid ones in ur truck. Seems still b lost of battery issues out there

Been running mine now for about 6 months.
I got 3 100 ah for my ulterra. Can sit of spot lock in 25 mile per hour winds two days.

I just made this move in December. I bought 3 50ah 12v Ionic Lithiums and 1 125ah 12v for my Starter/accessories. All 4 batteries weigh about 80lbs. The Ionic's have a bluetooth app ( apple/android ) that tells you the status of the batteries so you can monitor throughout the day. I have a 2017 Skeeter FX21LE w Yam 250 SHO w a 112 36v Utlrex. I'm using a MK 460PC Charger and it charges them in the AGM setting. Ionics say 5000 charge cycles and they come with 5 yr warranty.

I ordered mine from Drew-Tek listed above in Bruce's post. He was able to save me a few $ for my 4 battery set up. Shipping was free and NO tax.

Since you have a 24v, I would recommend 2 100ah 12v. Cost is about $845ea. for the 100ah.

You'll definitely feel the weight difference in the boat handling and hole shot. Charge time is about 2hrs. Also, the SHO Alternator will recharge the starter battery while running.

I went all in on the Ionic lithium batteries. Three 100ah for my Ultrex and a 125ah for cranking and balance of electronics needs.

I changed charger to one with a lithium profile.

I’m impressed by how long they hold a charge. My hole shot is very impressive too.

Best part, at my age it doesn’t kill me when I have to take one out.

Let’s see what happens in about 5 years for longevity.

The cost of the things has kept me away. You can get several really good batteries for the cost of a lithium from what I’ve seen. Also if one goes out on you somewhere is it easy to replace? Or are you stuck with a long drive to where someone sells them.

As long as I can lift a regular one out of the back...I'm gonna stick with it. My hole shot is good even with them and poles. $2400 for 3 or $350 for 3. BUT, I do have a few tickets to the Powerball retirement plan going for me tonight...so we'll see!

I hope to upgrade to lithiums one day.

Cost prohibitive for me. Hopefully they will come down in price.

At 845 $ dollars a piece they should be a lifetime warranty . You could buy 4 lead acid batteries for that .
But guess if you want them it’s your coin .

Been using Lithium Pros for 3 years. I have one 12v and 2 36v batteries. I have never had a problem with not enough power to last all day on spot lock or start after a day of leaving on four 10-12in graphs, live well aerators, etc.
I have the original minn Kota charger that powers the lithium pro charger for the 36v batteries. The way it’s set up anytime my Merc is running it’s charging all of my batteries.
The only problem I’ve had was when temps get below freezing, I had to jump (wake up) the starting battery off another to get it going.
I would get one 24v and one 12v for starting and be done with it.

Forgot about possible cold intolerance. Is it a problem like with power tool batteries?

So question. Why do y’all get 4 12 volts instead of 1 36v for TM and 1 12v for starting? I’m seriously thinking about going this route due to hole shot and space in my champion. With Dual PP pumps and 4 batteries I don’t even have room for an onboard charger. I’m tired of hooking and unhooking batteries and carrying extra stuff when I stay at the lake
