For those of you who use plastic jigs, do you have the hook end up on top of your bait or on the bottom? I guess that I've never really thought of it before but I've always threaded my plastics on my jig head where the hook is on the "bottom" of the bait design. After seeing someone else thread the plastic on their jig, I thought that they put it on upside down. Well, after looking at it, with the hook on top of the plastic's body, it seems the bait fishing right side up. Funny that I never ever paid that close of attention to it. I still catch lots of fish with the way that I'm doing it and really don't know if it makes a difference to the crappie or not. Do y'all take that into consideration or does it even matter to the crappie?

So, good question. Now I am gonna give you my 100% off the wall true answer...however the fish want to take it. I normally i hook my plastics so that the bottom of the bait is hanging down when the hook is up. That said, if I am not catching, I will turn it sideways, or hook it some variation of injured style, at a moments notice. Occasionally, I will hook one through the side, wacky style. Once I establish a location and a depth, My first objective is to figure out a presentation, then a color, then a size, that works best for the day. Here’s the thing, if you aren’t getting bit, start changing stuff till you do. Then stay with what works, no matter how crazy it may seem. Remember, the idea is to figure out what the fish want to bite, and then keep giving it to them until they want something else, then change up till they want to bite again.

It only matters to those with OCD.😂 All kidding aside, crapicat hit the nail on the head. One of the best answers I've seen. Tight lines.
I would rather die finding out there was no God than die finding out there is.

All of the above advice is good. Try different things until something works.....if something works then all the sudden quits working change again. I use jig bodies until they are completely useless. When they tear one one side I turn them To another side and keep fishing until they are completely unusable.... I generally find hook position on the jig body makes little to no difference.

Since having Livescope I've determined that bait profile is way more important than color. I usually keep a hair jig, slab bandit, brush glider, and a 3" swim bait tied on. Sometimes they change at the drop of a hat...no rhyme or reason, they just want something different.
