Gents / Ladies / Whatever you want to be called...

I have great friend of mine coming into town from Indiana and our bucket list lake is Fork and Rayburn. I keep reading wind is a killer on both as is low waters.

I'm looking for a website, something, someone, etc. that would be a great resource to use before we make a trek from DFW and realize we're hosed.

What should I look for?

Wind
Water Levels
Fees
Launch Locations
Etc...

Any advice you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for help to a newb at Fork / Rayburn.

Oh, I'm already working on getting a lane chip from Lance Vick's Boat Lanes. So I know this word of caution.

Thanks in advance...AJ

Lakes are fine. Ma nature is your biggest obstacle. From mood of the fish to safety on the water. Just make your plans and monitor the weather idiots. Maybe contact a few guides.

Fork can be 100% wind friendly... be smart, launch out of the wind and fish there. Want a change? Trailer and launch somewhere else!!!

You can launch and stay at Oak Ridge marina on the east side of the lake. They've got great food and a big tackle shop.

Exactly this. Don't worry to much about the wind on Fork, you can work around it. Just know both lakes get a ton of pressure, so the bass won't jump in the boat.

Wait, they won't jump in the boat. That's it trip cancelled!

So far the weather, as unpredictable as it is calling for 8-10 SE on Thursday 1/22 & 8-10 NNW on Friday 1/23. I'll keep watching this and look into those ramps and other things.

I can't thank you all enough.

I think the current lake level is the best level for navigating. All my my hazard waypoints are visible now. Catch'em!

Unless your fishing out of a yak, that's not wind. Even on Rayburn, esp not on Fork.

Rudest bunch of folks I've ever met. I'd stay away from this place. Tiffany's at LFM is great.
