Wayman Tisdale was not only a great basketball player but also one hell of a jazz musician

Jazz is a dead art these days. One has to be part of the jazz scene to probably appreciate it any more. Europeans appreciate jazz more then Americans as a rule. It encompasses a lot of styles other than big band and swing as most think of it. Best place to hear jazz around here is at Univ. of North Texas. The One O'Clock Lab Band is truly professional, artistic, and is unsurpassed.

I think the reason jazz isn't more popular is because mostly the human brain prefers organization and predictability. We want to know the chorus is going to start again EXACTLY when it is suppose to,we want to sing along,we love a bridge that brings the song to a climax,we love word phrases that rhyme,we enjoy being moved emotionally by a story being told, etc. Jazz offers none of that.

I like Dixieland jazz if they have a good washboard player.

I like some Jazz. Tab Benoit has some good stuff.

Plenty of Jazz YouTube channels that make good background music.
