Man talk about a depressing 2 days to be a Houston sports fan, really it's more embarrassment than depression. The bad part is Hinch & Luhnow knew and didn't do anything about it, Crane was right to fire them both. I can't figure out if I should be pizzed or feel bad for the players.
On the Texans side O'Brien should be fired, Romeo should be fired, but O'Brien will not be fired we've seen 6 yrs of his BS game management, play calling and whatever stupid stuff he does. Talk shows are really good in the Htown area today

A question of logic but I'm not all that smart so someone explain it to me.

How do you steal signs without everyone who gets that information (players) knowing about it?
So they steal a sign, relay it to the player and the player knows whats coming. How do you only penalize the coach and GM?

It had to do with electronics analyzing of the replay cameras next to the dugouts, also, as well as cameras in the outfield. Whoever had to analyze what catchers signals went with what pitches were thrown. More in depth than I can understand, too. There will be more folks go down for this......Cora, Taubman, and others. They used different noise sequences in the dugout to notify the batter on what pitch is coming....

This all kinda reminds me of a Robby Rose process.....all premeditated.

the story I read said Carlos Beltran mentioned to Alex Cora that setting a TV near the dugout with a feed from center field would be the way to steal signs, so someone watches the cathsr to see whats comin and then whistles or bangs on a can and alerts the batter by a predetermined code, seems that a lot of people had to know whats going on, discipline the leaders and call it done, which is probably all you can do and still keep the team intact, I would bet that it wasnt exclusive to the Astros , but they got caught

Saying it was a “player-driven” scheme and then not punishing any players definitely seems ridiculous. I’m fine with the punishments handed down so far, but not punishing players is silly.

I agree with the way this was handled by MLB and Crane. Hinch obviously knew this was going on. He destroyed monitors on two different occasions, but failed to stop the activity. I have a hard time believing Luhnow did not know what was going on as well. From what I've read, he was given direct instructions from Crane to ensure no rule breaking activity was going on and obviously either lied about it to Crane or didn't want to know about it.
We have the best team in MLB so it made no sense to gain an unfair advantage by stealing signals. In the end it's a shame that the best GM/Mgr combo the Stros ever had lost their jobs and integrity, but it's the right call by Crane.
Tough week for H-Town sports for sure. I'm disappointed by the actions of management and the players involved, but will still support the team whole heartedly going forward.
