I fish alone 99% of the time. I comfortable and confident, and find it extremely therapeutic. I have my share of issues where I had to flag down another boater for help
Bring a camera for proof of catch and a scale. I catch and release only.

I kayak fish alone 99+% of the time and about half the time I am getting back to the ramp well after dark being the only one on the lake..
No issues on the water.
Sometimes a little uncomfortable in an empty parking lot late at night putting all my stuff away when strange car pulls through or someone shows up out of nowhere.
Frequently have conversations with other anglers as I am getting my kayak ready in the parking lot or with the only other angler at the park late at night. They have always been friendly and offer each other helping hand, tips or left over bait.
Occasionally chat with someone on the lake or help someone out on the water.
Plus is I get to do what I want, when I want and how I want. Stay as long or as little as I want.
Downside is lack of camaraderie and someone else to bounce ideas off of about where the fish are and how to catch them.

I almost never fish by myself from the time I bought my boat in 2006 until my youngest left for college in 2018. It helped to have children who really liked fishing, but we had many other friends want to come along and catch fish with us through the years. But it's much easier to put 2-3 people in the boat for a trip. My dad had this idea when we were growing up that he wanted all three of his sons to go along or the effort wasn't worth it. Once we were teens, having three children available and interested at the same time was rare. My experience was the same with my teens.

Since my youngest left for college, I've been fishing by myself about half the time. But I've always been really intentional about extending invitations and helping guests on my boat catch fish. Even on a recent trip to Grand Isle, I'd spend a while on the fishing pier and marina seeing if anyone wanted to jump in the boat before fishing alone. For whatever reason, folks in Louisiana tend to be more open to fishing with a guy they just met than folks in Georgia. But lots of church friends have been eager to fish with me in Georgia.

When I do I end up fishing alone, it's either a weekday or poor weather forecast, or I'm honest with those I invite that I'm trying something new that may not work. I try and stick with proven approaches when I have guests.

MathGeek makes a good point. When I take guests with me the focus is on getting them bites, even if the fish are small. When I prefish for a tournament I like to move around a lot, sometimes fishing an area for 5-10 minutes. If I decide there are fish there I will crank up and leave. If I have a guest with me, especially someone who doesn't get to fish a lot or who doesn't catch a lot of fish, I feel like I ought to stay and let them catch some of the biting fish. I can also stay on the water as long or short a time as I want and not have to worry about whether they are hungry and want to go eat or if they have to be home at a certain time. It's a completely different dynamic.

I fish alone most the time. I work screwy hours and most folks don't get the middle of the week off. I like fishing alone.

I love the smell of two stroke in the morning.

I bass fish every chance I get, it's nice to catch lots of bass but some days I will fish all day for only one big bite while looking for new spots. If you are ever looking for someone to partner with to fish Rayburn or Toledo hit me up. I fish alone most of the time but would be nice to be with someone at times. Even if we are each fishing in our own boats it helps to have 2 guys figuring things out. At this point I don’t really fish any tournaments just like to have fun. I live in Buna so I am not terribly far from either lake. I run 2012 legend 199 as you will see in my signature. I work 4-10s mostly M-T but do work a lot of OT.

I can go both ways. I just enjoy fishing. I kinda have my select group of folks that I fish with and they're accepting of me being the control freak. I like to run the TM almost all of the time. That way they always have an excuse when I put it on 'em that my nickname oughta be "frontender". I fish during the week 90% of the time, and try my darndest to avoid the flatbills and perstaffers hogging water on the weekends.

Lots rather fish alone most times, boat positioning being the main reason. A few other bonus is no time constraint, no worries about someone learning specific waypoints or talking constantly grin The exceptions are my wife and best friend who I enjoy putting on fish

95% of the time for me. Don't like the chit chat stuff and it is my only time to unwind from work. I also have no one to blame if I don't catch anything or mess something up. When someone wants me to take them I tell them "no thanks I don't need an anchor".

Usually "fish" alone, but most of favorite "catching" memories are when I'm with someone else that can actually catch a big bass!
