I made my first trip up to Pottsboro Sunday morning, 12/29/2019. Arrived at sunup and left with a limit by 9 a.m.. It was definitely windy and cold and the water was a lot more murky than what was seen in your video
I was the only one there the entire time and it looks like you were the only one there too judging by the lack of cars, other than yours, in the background.
Anyway, just as I was about to leave a TPWD Game Warden pulled up and we had a good chat for about 10 minutes. First time I've been checked by a warden in over three years. The last time was when Leroy was checking people below Lavon Dam.
The warden asked if I had seen anyone 'double dipping' (i.e. keeping more than 5 or hitting the pond twice in a day). Apparently it has been going on up there. He gave me his card and asked me to call him if I see any of that nonsense - told him I'll be sure to do that. He did ask to see my catch which I was more than happy to show to him..
Your videos got me excited about getting up to Pottsboro to try for some of the stocker trout this afternoon. A little windy when I got there and could see action just out from the cat tails.. Found a coupld spots where the reeds were a little shorter or thinner and fished over them. Managed to get some bites on a yellow near deere. Bites were very light and only one hit, would not come back and could not hook any trout. Tried different retrieves, a couple different colors and some wooly buggers but still no luck. Once bites stopped, Decided to put a small popper on my fly rod and caught 3 perch bigger than my hand. When perch stopped biting, broke out my long crappie rod with a size 12 hook, power bait and 2 small split shot spread out. Just enough so I could cast but hopefully not have the fish feel weight as they hit the bait. Bites were so light just saw the curve of the line going down to the water barely change shape. Missed several but managed to catch 3 trout. Great way to finish off the year.
I saw 3 other folks fishing while I was there. Police cruised through the parking lot but did not stop and no signs of the game warden.
Starting the New Year on the right track, solved a fishing dilemma in hypertime! The dilemma - two fly rods, but only one fly reel. Made the trip up to Denison a day after the trout derby. The trout were hungry. I had a limit in fairly short order and all caught on a gold super duper. They were good sized fish too - measuring 10" to 11"..

Here is a video and infographic we created to detail our approach to fishing for trout using spinning gear. Normally, we use fly fishing gear but we do like to have spinning gear at the ready! Do stay tuned... we plan to demo this strategy on our next trout fishing trip hopefully in the near future! Includes mention of Bubble Fly Rigs and having fishing flies at the ready! Cool looking reel, with a reel pouch to store it in and a tool to switch the retrieve from left to right and vice versa.Do stay tuned, will post a follow-up video fishing with it and possibly catching a fish or two with it! Hydros SL1 Fly Reel Unboxing! #flyfishing #orvis
Been itching to get more underwater action shots while fishing. Since losing the Waterwolf Camera last year, it has been a bust. But, putting on the thinking cap, came up with a mount for the GoPro... since it's still in the works, we called this one prototype 1.
This video is the field test of prototype 1, have already made adjustments and prototype 2 is ready to go. Just got to find time to test it out in the field. Do check back, will get it tested and hopefully show some underwater fishing action! If prototype 2 works well, will post a how to video! Went up to Waterloo again this morning for another limit of nice trout. I beat the snow storm early this morning but it really started coming down as I was leaving around 8:30 a.m.. There was about 1/4" to 1/2" of snow in places and I counted 7 cars that slid off the road on my way back to Allen on I-75.. .
Went back up to Waterloo this morning early for another round at the trout. I like to get there just as the sun is coming up and hitting the pond. Usually that means leaving Allen at 6 a.m. and driving up 75 in the dark.
There was a horrible multi-car accident this morning that had 75 north completely shut down for probably 30 minutes or more. I would guess I was no more than 5 minutes behind from when it happened. Just as you go north out of Sherman and make the gentle right turn under the overpass to the slope going down towards the new hospital is where it happened. Temperature was 29 degrees and there was black ice on the road from yesterdays snow storm. It looked like 6 or 7 cars and a semi were involved. I would have hit that same patch of ice if I hadn't seen all the red flashing lights and slowed way down as I came into that curve.
I thanked my lucky starts this morning and felt really bad for all those involved in this morning's accident.

Glad to hear your lucky stars were shining bright this morning!
