Now that Humminbird and Minn Kota are both under the Johnson Outdoors umbrella, and Lowrance and Garmin are coming out with their own trolling motors, what's in store for MotorGuide? Develop their own fish finder/GPS? Or maybe partner with another electronics player, like maybe Raymarine?

Business as usual. Only time will tell how the Garmin and Lowrance motors perform. Motor guide is in the cable steer “spot lock” business now too...

Their new Tour Pro spotlock TM is supposed to be available for purchase next month, I can’t wait to see it.

Their new Tour Pro spotlock TM is supposed to be available for purchase next month, I can’t wait to see it. Just read about it in the current Bassmaster mag. Looks like a solid entry....and priced to sell a bunch of em. True cable steer, with all the useful stuff that spot lock brings. Stronger mount (think Fortrex), and substantially less expensive than the other top guns being offered.

When I think fortrex mount I think junk, bushings falling out. When I think boat parts period, I think junk! Overpriced parts that fail annually. That said, I was kinda referring to the 360 bow guard, cast tressel frame, hydraulic lift assist, etc. all things that have been applauded in years past by MK owners and suggested to MG l, by MG faithful, to incorporate into their upper end trollers

Motorguide has clearly made poor decisions the past 4-5 years. Hopefully their new line of motors are good because otherwise I don't think they'll be around a whole lot longer.

When's the last time you've heard someone say..... "I got the new MG trolling motor and this thing is the best since sliced bread!", etc..... Nope. Ask us previous owners that had the circuit boards fry mid-tournament why we aren't repeat purchasers. They need a Hail Mary and fast....

I think they will be ok, they will get back on a default equipment list or certain manufacturer's, heck remember Mercury and Motorguide are the same company.

I know this will really be coming out from left field for all of the foot control TM guys but I wish they would come out of the Dark Ages with hand control units. I have a 36 volt, hand control Great White. I do a lot of saltwater fishing. I made the mistake of putting a 36 volt, foot control TM on a 22' center console years back. It was a disaster.
The Pro-Kontrol handle I have installed on my TM is the only way I can control it in higher f/lb usage. I still have to reach down to turn the speed up or down. It would be entirely possible for Motorguide or any other manufacturer to create a hand-control TM with an extended arm control with integral speed control. Some sort of trigger installed there could also serve as an on/off intermittent switch.
