Thanks brother. I used the same rigging surf fishing except used a fish finder rig with 4 foot leader but using same size hook 7/0 and 2 oz. weight during mild current. And praying for no salads in the surf. Also thanks for the inspiration.

I would cut them bait fish in chunks.

I would cut them bait fish in chunks. Mullet and ladyfish are smelly enough to work well as cut bait. We prefer sand trout, whiting, and croaker alive. Lacking the smell of mullet and ladyfish, better to have the motion of a live fish wiggling on a hook.
