Ok so I just bought my first bass boat (94 skeeter ss90) and I have no idea how to use a livewell roflmao

So I took it to the lake the first time this week and as soon I put the boat in the water the live wells filled up pretty damn quick. It kind of freaked me out so I pulled it back out and plugged the intake for the livewell water. Is it normal to fill up like that on its own? I thought I had to turn something on for the live wells to fill with water?

The live wells will seek the water level the boat is drawing. To completely fill them to operating level will require the pump to be turned on. Do you have a fill empty/switch?

All depends if it has a live well control valve. Yours may not. See pages 15 and 16.

I know on some boats if the livewell drain plug isn't plugged in can fill up the hull. I've seen the back of boats completely under water due to this.

You get out of it what you put into it!

There is a switch for the livewell and when I turn it on I can hear it running but Iā€™m not sure what that switch actually does. When I got home I filled the livewell with water and turned the switch on and nothing happened so Iā€™m not sure. I guess the boat needs to be in the water for the livewell to work properly

But if the livewell drain plug is in, how will water get into the livewell at all?

Thru the pumps. The pump or pumps are piped to circulate fresh water into the live well.
