What is the best way to drop Christmas trees so they go down and dont float off? Center blocks dont work. Yes a got my lake permit so I'm legal.

sunk brushpiles in lake lewisville after christmas. it was a learning experience , and it was fun. i actually wish i could organize a group of fishermen to do what i did. my first pile i weighed down with 4 cinder blocks. it was a sycamore tree/ bush i cut. tied up with ski rope. didnt like the way i did it, but it was my first. next, i took chainsaw and cut branches from dead trees close to the bank and ski roped them to cinder blocks and sunk. next, lowes gave me 30 christmas trees. they had 200-300 for sale for $1 each the day before. next 2 piles were sunk with cinder blocks and ski rope. a cinder block will sink 2 trees at once if their smaller trees. the bigger trees i tied 1 tree to cinder block. i also put a floaty in top of tree to insure trees sunk straight up and down. using ski pore did cause me a problem with 2 of the trees i sunk. my knot came untied. it was windy. 1/1 2020 and off they floated. well, i got 9 trees left. decided to tie trees to cinder blocks a different way,,,,,best way. tied trees to cinder blocks with heavy duty bailing wire. drilled 1/2 inch hole in bottom of tree. cut bottom limbs off christmas trees so i could stick bottom of tree thru cinder block. used about 10 foot of bailing wire, doubled over, stuck thru hole in tree, then tied bailing wire to cinder block.,,,,,,,,this method is the only way to do it! smaller trees, you can use 1 cinder block for 2 trees. larger trees, use 1 cinder block per tree. a huge tree you may have to use 2 blocks at the bottom to sink it. hope this helps with your tree sinking.

Sunk 6 piles last week. Used cinder block, green FRESH cut trees and 36" zip ties. One block will sink a 15' tall cedar tree. Zip ties wont come untied. As Ernest once said, theres not enough cinder blocks at Lowes to sink an old dead dried out tree.

I use sacks filled with about 35-45lbs of sand or gravel with a willow limb or christmas tree zip tied to the bag. Use an old laundry detergent jug or gallon tea jug zip tied about half way up. I use my Sawzall with a pruning blade to cut the limbs.

Major PITA, have done it a few times over the years. Messy and if you are not putting a lot out, likely wasting your time. i used to cut buckets in half and run 2 sticks of PVC thru it to make a cross so they stand up, and milk jug to keep it upright.

Good luck Mo Or this with Bamboo. It won't last as long as pvc but will draw fish to it much quicker.
