Yeah, they turned my buddy away on Saturday. He called me at about 4:45 and said he forgot to make reservations and was hoping to sweet talk his way in. I told him good luck, but that Granbury wasn't far away. He ended up fishing at Granbury. It was strange last Saturday. We left early, but there didn't appear to be any tournaments, unless they were club. The bite was definitely off from what it has been. Finally found some fish deep, but the shallow bite just didn't happen.

The ramp only having two usable lanes seems to be the real issue now. In years past I rarely heard of them turning people away. Even if they didn't have a reservation. Even if the list was "full". Now it takes forever to get out of there because of the ramp situation. The more people they let in, the longer the guys working there have to stay after hours. Most Saturdays and Sundays the line is backed up all the way up the hill at 4pm. Back before 911 they allowed more boats but there was still a cap, maybe 200, 300? and they would fill it frequently in the winter I'm told. I like it the way it is at 150 its busy but still not terribly crowded. Oh yeah forgot about that, do not use the right side ramp when loading!, use one of the two left ones, for launching all 3 are fine. Did the middle 2 ramps break off or they just closed cause the water is low anyone know?

So the policy at the park has been to not turn boats away. The exception to that is days when the park is booked by an organization. Currently that is only Fish n Chips and TTO. TTO is on Jan 25th. It is blocked so no one can make a reservation. If you show up on the 25th and are not entered in the TTO tournament you will be turned away. TTO is handling the names, numbers and money for that day.
Someone was filling in for Teresa and he came up with his own policy for Saturdays and Sundays. He has been retrained to not to turn anyone away. The request is that everyone make a reservation because handwriting it out takes time and slows things down. There was a problem with the system this summer not recording some reservation. That has been corrected. I am amazed that with one person signing in and one at the ramp how many boats get launched in an hour. There has only been a couple of times that more than 150 boats were on the water. Most the time 30 plus people that made a reservation do not show up. Also if you make a reservation do not make a second. There were 7 duplicates for Saturday that had to be deleted. The reason the information is required is to facilitate evacuating the lake in the case of an emergency at the plant. If the sirens go off around the lake you can call the park or listen to WBAP 0820 am or return to the marina area to see why they were set off. The park personnel have your name and number to call you if they need to evacuate the lake. The Sheriff / Game wardens will be called to find those that cannot be contacted. The tow vehicle license is to be able to tell who is still in. Please be sure to go slow enough when you leave for them to get your front license plate number. If you do not have a front plate you need to stop and give them your name as it is very difficult to read a rear plate with a boat in in tow. It is also used for those who park in no parking areas to move their vehicle instead of towing it.
Also leave your guns at home. It is in the park rules that you agreed to abide with when you make your reservation. There is a Nuclear Power plant on this lake with a very well trained security force. Considering all that is going on in the world we do not need to have a weapons incident on this lake.
The lake is coming back up. 3 inches in last week. Those middle ramps have drop offs at the end and trailers fall off and get stuck when people back in too far. They will be reopened when the lake returns to normal pool.

Policy may be to let them in, but it honestly depends on who is working the gate. There is one guy who will NOT let you in without a reservation, and doesn’t care what you say the policy is, like really does not care what you say. Get a reservation.
