Picked up a 2000 Mercury 25HP for my 16' Lowe Stick Steer.

It's been sitting for a few years but was completely drained previously before hand.
I'd like to at least try and see if it runs/fires/doesn't leak fuel everywhere before I tear it apart.

I haven't bought anything for years for a small outboard.

Where should I get a new fuel tank and primer bulb? I know academy and bass pro carry some of their house brand stuff. Any buddy using those?
I'm going to replace the spark plugs and fuel filter.

I'm going to assume I should probably change the lower unit oil as well.

Anything else I should be doing?

Trying to get it on the water in the next month or so but i'm not in any giant hurry.

If you need parts for the engine, I have had great service and delivery from: marineengine.com. Their Illustrated Parts Diagrams are super helpful. Enter your model number or even serial number in the Mercury Parts tab, and you will see everything you might need. Tanks and hoses, etc., can be sourced from West Marine and Academy, but shopping on the Internet can save you some bucks. I re-habbed a '61 Johnson 5.5 and an '82 Merc 9.8 with parts from marineengine.com. Good luck, IslandJim

I have been using Crowley Marine to get my replacement parts. You can put your year/model number/ ho in and it brings up schematics for the motor that are easy to read.
