I need to track down the source of a leak in my house.
No leak detection companies around here. Closest is in Louisville.
Anyone have experience with and a recommendation for thermal imaging camera etc?

Butch...new roof. $11,000. Didn’t fix it.
$1200 worth of contractors haven’t fixed it.
Only happens when wind driven rain from south/southwest.

I have seen units for rent at industrial rental companies. I think Home Depot rents them in some locations. Good luck.

Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

My Son in Law is a building inspector , He has an attachment to his iphone that converts it to a thermal camera. I don't think it was expensive , might look into that..

Does the roof transition into a vertical wall or chimney ?
If so, check your flashing most residential contractors / roofers do not have a clue how to install proper through wall flashing. The sloped head wall flashing that lays on the shingles should be secured / hooked to a concealed cleat, not with exposed nails. The counter flashing that extends up and into / behind the veneer should not be a surface applied fabrication or set into a saw cut reglet. It should extend through the veneer material back to the sheathing behind the veneer. With the top edge covered with weather resistant barrier material that was installed on the sheathing.
All laps should be sealed with sealant and corners should be wrapped in a downward manner.
Post a picture of the exterior condition.
If you can safely access the exterior area and the interior attic, a water test will be easy. Get a 1/8” brass nozzle and cut off valve from a building supply store and spray the area to replicate rain. Have someone inside to listen or watch for water. Start at the lowest area and work horizontally along the shingles, then move to the metal flashing, then to the veneer above. Go slow. When it starts to leak, stop mark the exterior spot and go back a few feet and when it stops dripping repeat until you can isolate it.

Ask your local squatch hunter. They have excellent thermal cameras.
