Met Rob and Lonny at 9:00. Headed over to the flats between the island and state park. Several boats in the general area were strolling (slow drift with trolling motor), so we decided to try it. We were using slab with thump buddy on top in 32 to 34 fow. Steady catching for about 3 hours, fish were hugging the bottom. Nice sized sandbass with a few stirper mixed in. Rob got a double with a fat 22" striper (biggest fish of the day) on slab and sandbass above (see pic). Lonny was showing us how it is done and was catching singles and doubles of nice sandies. The biggest fish I caught was a 14" crappie. After that panned out we moved over to the bluffs. Set up in 32 fow of water and moved around but couldn't mark or catch much. Moved closer to the river channel in 38fow and started catching more fish. Then we found a spot that marked and produced so we set anchor. Caught fish for 3 hours, 8 tripple hook ups, unknow double and no more than 5 minutes between bites. Most were smaller than we were catching but still fun. These fish were on the bottom and suspended, we could catch them either way. Have no idea how many we caught and released but my arms are sore. Lonny sandbass Rob's double 22"stripe and big sandie Crappie and another Lonny sandie Bigger crappie

Good report. Fireant mounds on the bottom can produce some awesome catching once you get them active .

Good analogy - fireant mounds on the bottom, sometimes hard to spot.

straight down slow jigging action, not deadstick but slow bump off the bottom.
