Bob Sandlin - January Report

Fish were deep as expected. 45 to 50’ of water and crappie were caught 30 to 44’ deep. I stayed in or near the channel.

They really wouldn’t cooperate until I adjusted. Since they weren’t fully committing and just nipped the bait I thought, how about a fluttering presentation mimicking a stressed shad. I put on a 1/8 BX Bladed jighead fluttering it like a spoon and immediately got hammered. It was on!

1/8 BX Bladed jighead with a Silver Shad Brush Glider on it’s side filled the livewell!

Video soon!

Sandlin has some big slabs.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Did you stop by Big Earl's place? Didn't he move his operation? Please share any info you may have on him; name of place, phone, location...? I thought I had heard he moved over to where 'Snappy' (???) was. Thanks

To answer UJC I got minnows Tuesday morning at Fort Sherman Depot Big Earls new location. Its at the old Snappy Pappys spot on high 21 just north of the State Park. He hopes to have the Cafe part open next week. He has the same Cook from Big Earls coming onboard too. Nice setup. Bigger bait and tackle area, will have groceries, drinks, and cafe and kitchen much bigger . He also has 5 cabins to rent too. Glad to see the Big Man back in business. We all need to give him our support and the business.
