I was bank fishing in a cove today and a bass boat came flying past a no wake zone buoy, then shut down right in front of where I was fishing. The wake splashed water several feet up the bank and tangled all four of my lines in the rocks. The guys saved maybe five seconds of fishing and cost me gear and an half hour to rig back up. Just a reminder.

I respect ALL bank anglers. That's where I was at before I got a boat. Sorry you had a bad experience with these guys, we're not all bad.

Actually, most of the time boat drivers are very respectful of me when I am fishing on the bank and I don’t think my comment applies to the vast majority of anglers on this site. Sometimes a reminder will help spread the word.

I can find fault in the driver for blasting past a no wake bouy, but if you are bank fishing and a wake caused your gear to get messed up.... I think that is on you.I try and respect everyone on the water, but that does not mean I see everyone. By the time I am close enough to see you with rod and reel, the damage is done . Same thing happens with kayaks, sometimes they appear out of nowhere. There was a time I would apologize for flying up on them. If they are not wearing hunters orange or bright pink, I don't feel sorry for them anymore.

Maybe he didn’t see you, but that doesn’t excuse his blowing in there. I respect all fishermen, except those that pull in on top of me. But, even then, I don’t bitch.....most times anyway.

One thing I noticed when I’d fish from the bank at Ray Roberts was that when a bass boat passed by around casting distance from the bank, I would sometimes catch a fish then. I don’t know if the boat made the shad scatter and the bass knew it was meal time or what. The noise of the boat definitely didn’t shut the fishing down at that spot.

One time I was fishing on the bank before sunup and a bass boat pulled up close to where I was standing. It was dark so they had no idea I was there but I heard one of them say “Look at all the fish on the graph!” and I said “yeah, this is a good spot and how did they find me when it was dark out?” We talked a little bit more and they apologized and moved on. Friendly guys but I’ll never know who they were.

Use your phone and get the TX numbers and call the game warren.
I know how it is without a boat and I always give the bank guys room that what good fisherman do, not ***holes.

Just kidding.

I always just yield them the spot. I got the whole damn lake....they are trying to catch em where they can.

Should always be mindful of your wake. It’s just like us complaining about jet fleas and big cruisers.

they won't do that on fork, well not without a few holes in the hull as a reminder (stumps, not 9mm)

Well, if the guy hadn't waked in on a no wake zone, then it wouldn't have been an issue, so yes, the wake was at the fault of the boater, thus causing him to re-rig. This is just an ignorant comment.
