My son and I are (hopefully) going to Texoma tomorrow with the kayaks to see about getting him into his first stripers. Any recommendations on general areas to launch & fish that are reasonably productive at the moment?

Did you guys make it out? I am thinking about doing the same with my son! We also have kayaks. I was thinking about going out of Eisenhower and fishing the south shore to stay out of the wind, always have the dam to throw for smallies also.

Thank you Lord for the gifts in my life

No, we didn't. Had a couple TFFers send me info on good areas, but when we got up the next morning, the kid didn't want to go fishing in freezing temps.

Kind of a shame, there was almost no wind & it probably would've been fun. Going to see if I can drag him out tomorrow, as the wind forecast looks promising. Would you feel like meeting up so we can go as a group?

I am not fishing in any one area so my style would not benefit you at all but I will tell you looks like there’s a lot of dead sticking going on just west of 377 and also in big mineral all deep water

I fish Texoma quite a bit but I use a thumper and go to a spot, turn on the thumper and try to draw fish to me. I have a few spots I fish (tabletop, Mack Creek, humps by the dam etc.) I have been doing good on Mack creek on the drop offs the past couple of weekends when I see bait on the drop offs. I am not sure if there is a place to launch close to Mack Creek but hit me up if you decide to go there. I am fishing tomorrow with my thumper and you are welcome to fish next to me.

Took him out today for a few hours. We stayed in one of the coves, as he's still learning how to handle a kayak properly. Caught a few 18-19" stripers on white curly tails. I was happy that he was willing to stick it out as long as he did - his patience is improving.
