apparently police chief is also trying to send a message to the courts about their leniency with criminals....obviously going to further embolden criminals to just jump into car to evade arrest....
thugs have already made large areas of Atlanta(and most major cities) unsafe and this is just going to make it worse...

In all honesty I don't disagree with her. She is right that it is ridiculous for officers to get into a pursuit risking their lives as well as lives of others to capture them just to have the system process them and put them back on the street. Criminals no longer fear the law.

I prefer slow speed chases like the OJ chase.

You are assuming I work in Roanoke. I also never mentioned if I were for or against it. I simply pointed out its nothing new. I bet you other big cities will have that same policy. Its nothing new. That was all I was trying to say.

my intent was to point out that the policy of "no pursuit" would work just fine in many cities because they have such a low crime rate..... other cities like Atlanta with high crime rates,it's just going to further embolden the criminals....

So wouldn't you have more chases then which increases the chance oif accidents involving innocent bystanders since the population is larger?

Most big cities like Dallas and Fort Worth have a policy in place unless it’s an aggravated felony they don’t chase... lots of the smaller agencies have policies in place like you run we chase. So what happens is these bigger cities “follow” them to the smaller towns that do chase and alert them.

High speed pursuit makes no sense in most cases. With technology today there is much better options. Too often innocent bystanders are hurt or killed by hot pursuit. It is all about the chase.

They should have air drones that follow the fleeing vehicle that can drop down a spike strip in front of it then then cast a tase emp net over the vehicle.
